Tolsh'eka heads over to Varn's group. "Well I take it you passed your interview, congratulations!" She claps lightly, "Though I think I would've taken Tartuccio over that crass old man"

Varn smiles. ”Congratulations to yourself. At least it sure looks to me like you got the last slot, seeing as how Lady Jamandi just closed the interviews after you walked out. But yes, we did get a slot. The Varnling Host is heading to Dunsward. I hear the locals aren’t too friendly, but then that’s kind of the point to all of this. Best of luck with your region.”

Tolsh'eka smiles wide, "I'm sure we'll soon be sharing drinks over how we vanquished our bandits. And in our own halls to boot!" She bid farewell and heads back. "Shall we head out for that trading post?"

"You know I'm ready," Sena nods

Spotty nods as well. "Let's go."

Once outside the city, the two disguised party members resume their natural forms. The Ring of Scales then embarks on a several day's journey to a remote trading post at the southern end of Restov. The travel is light and uneventful. In the late afternoon of the last day of travel, the group arrives at a small wooden fort that has been converted into some kind of trading post. The large wooden gate is open and a small amount of smoke puffs from the chimney of the house in the center. On top of the house, a rather gruff looking man seems to be hammering away to repair some loose tiling.

Sena is the first to approach the building, not a lot of attention paid to the person working on the roof

The man on the roof looks down at the kobold and readies his hammer. ”I don’t know why you’re here but you best back off. We don’t want trouble. We got enough as it is.”

"No trouble here!" Spotty calls out as he approaches. "Jamandi Aldori sent us."

The man hesitates for a moment. ”She sent kobolds?”

Tolsh'eka shifts to human away from prying eyes and follows the others inside. "The kobolds are with me," She says to the man, "And it's as they say, Jamandi Aldori sent us to rid the Stolen Lands of bandits"

The man gives a sharp grunt, but does seem calmed by the seemingly human presence. He climbs down the ladder on the side of his home and walks toward Tolsh’eka. ”I have been informed of her little expedition. Wasn’t expecting kobolds is all. We usually have attacks from them, not help. I’m Oleg Leveton,” the man says, holding out his hand to Tolsh’eka.

Tolsh'eka shakes the hand. "Nice to meet you Oleg. Hmmm...you mentioned kobold attacks? Maybe we could take a small diversion to assist?"

Deliberately indicating her scales, Sena comments "Not all of us follow the chromatics; some of us see value in things besides theft and hate"

Oleg nods his head. ”I got it. Just haven’t seen friendly kobolds round here. They haven’t been the real problem lately, though . They attack rarely and the forts defenses can usually keep them at bay. No, the bandits are the real problem lately. But we should head inside before we get to brass tax. My wife has been making a stew all day for the ‘visitors’ we been expecting.”

"Alright, I'll keep the kobolds in mind for later then. We'll take care of the bandits too" Tolsh'eka grins, "Now let's sample some of that stew, sounds delicious"

"Thanks for your hospitality, Mr. Oleg!" says Spotty.

Oleg grunts. ”Please, just Oleg,” he says before leading the group inside. The inside of the trading post is set up as expected, several supplies line shelves and a large counter serves as a storefront. But Oleg leads the group behind the counter and back into a kitchen and dining area where the delightful sent of hearty boar stew fills the air. A woman stands stirring the cooking pot but she turns around when guests enter. ”Oh hello there! Are you the group come to get rid of the bandits?”

Tolsh'eka sniffs the air and smiles. "Yes, we're here to stop the bandits. I must say your stew smells delightful!" She does wait for an invitation to sit down though.

The woman doesn’t hesitate to start serving up bowls of the stew. ”Please, please sit down,” she says. ”My apologies if the chairs and table are a bit uncomfortable for most of you. Oleg didn’t build them with kobolds in mind.”

"Don't worry about it, one learns a few tricks for keeping one's tail out of the way pretty quickly," Sena says as she takes a seat

She takes a seat next to Sena. "As long as they can still eat they'll be happy," She says before thinking for a moment.

"A fed kobold is a happy kobold," Spotty agrees. "Mm, this is some good stew."

Mrs. Leveton smiles. ”I’m glad you like it!” she replies. ”Oh I’ve almost forgotten my manners. I’m Svetlana. What are all your names?”

"My name is Sena; and thank you for the wonderful stew, Svetlana," she replies, digging in.
